Considerations for Commercial Bar Designs...

1. Choose a bar that meets the demands you have for your type of clients, existing decor and ease of use for your staff and patrons. A bar that goes outside of these parameters will cause more headaches than solve problems.
2. Make sure your bar is designed at the appropriate size, both in length, width and height. Having a bar that is too big restricts the flow of operations for wait staff and bar staff. A bar that is too high will restrict view of important parts of the restaurant.
3. Be sure all state and fire laws and permits are covered and stay within ADA compliance so you do not get red flagged later on.
4. Design to over accommodate equipment and supplies, mixers, dispensers, cabinetry and glassware, etc. Not planning for these conveniences and the growth in business can prove a real hassle later on.
5. Make sure your bar materials and finish is moisture resistant. Choose materials and finish options that work with your decor but that do not compromise on the durability of your bar.
6. Lastly, make sure you have the seating capacity and arrangement that works for the layout and the space and make sure that the lighting you choose for the bar area meets the requirements for the bar and the patrons. Too much lighting or too little can cause problems for your staff and your customers.
